District was implemented within the 5th frame programme of the international cooperation in science and technology development organized by the European Union.

The project was selected by an independent external expert commission and acquired the right to be appropriated financial support from the EC. Good quality work and results are guaranteed since the project was under constant supervision of EU experts and the consortium submitted regular reports about the state and results of their work.

Distric strategic goal was developing a set of tools and the associated business model that enable small food retailers to remain competitive in the e-commerce era, whilst keeping their distinctive marketing values. These unique competitive advantages are, for example, personalised attention and advise to the customer, high quality fresh products, etc.
